Today was the final day of the Legend of Zelda project that I’ve been working on and the conclusion of the project also brings about the completed final painting.
Welcome to Part III!
In case you have missed parts I and II you can find them by Clicking Here.
Since posting Part II last week I have been busy sketching and further figuring out the elements that I want to include in the painting that will be the final result of this short project; I have got a final sketch completed in order to use it as a reference for things like tone, composition and so on.
I’m pleased with the result I came up with for the environment in which Link is placed, I wanted it to be a scene inspired by the Lost Woods, with some swamp elements to give the narrative that extra touch of atmosphere.
There are a couple of things that I will change for the painting but other than that, this is how the final artwork will look, but with colour. I have been toying with the idea of whether to use watercolours or oil for the painting, I have settled on using watercolours as my chosen medium; I had a lot of fun using them in the studies that I created for Part I, so that twisted my arm a bit.
I’ll be starting on the painting as soon as possible and as soon as it underway I’ll be publishing another post, until then, take care and thanks for visiting!
Since the last post for this project I have spent some time developing ideas for a final painting; there has been a lot to think about and weigh up during this stage of the project and a lot of sketching.
Decisions have had to be made on the pose of the figure, composition, scenery/environment, medium, colours, surface and probably a bunch of other stuff that I’ve forgotten at this point.
Anyway without further ado, let’s jump straight into the process of this stage and take a look at where it is heading.
Welcome to Part I of my latest project!
This latest endeavour of mine is inspired by the incredibly captivating and masterfully crafted videogame series, the Legend of Zelda.
I found myself at a bit of a stalemate with my last project after being away from it for so long, so in order to rejuvenate that creativity I thought it would be best to move on and start something new and exciting; thus I eventually came to the idea of creating a Legend of Zelda inspired painting for my portfolio.
In this part of the project I have covered a fair amount of sketches and a couple of watercolour studies of Link (the main protagonist of the series) and I am ready to begin working on some more sketches and drawings for a final painting.
Without further ado, here is the stuff that I’ve done so far –
